 We are taking the New Zealand Government Restrictions and COVID-19 very seriously. Absoloot Hostel QT still very much operational and open for you to stay with us.


From 1am Monday 16th of March, the NZ Government has put travel restrictions on everyone arriving in New Zealand – this means that you have been asked to isolate yourself for 14 days if you have been in any country (excluding the Pacific Islands), or have been in contact with anyone with confirmed COVID-19 in the last 14 days.

They have asked you:

  1. To self-isolate for 14 days from your day of departure or close contact.
  2. To please register your details with Healthline if you have not already (call 0800 358 5453 or +64 9 358 5453 for international SIM cards).

If you have been exposed, it may take up to 2 weeks for symptoms to present. As such, to keep yourself and others safe, you should isolate yourself from other people for 14 days from the time you left the overseas country or were exposed to COVID-19.

This is a difficult and fluid period, where we will be making decisions as we are given direction from national government and health bodies.

For the current situation we have reserved rooms to be used for anybody that requires self isolation. If you find yourself with symptoms relating to the current pandemic, please notify us immediately. Our staff are fully versed with how to deal with such situations.

The rooms are all equipped with their own En-Suite Bathrooms, Linen, Fridge, Kettle, Crockery, Cutlery, Towels, Climate Control, and High Speed Wi-Fi. The water from the en-suite tap is filtered and 100% drinkable. These rooms include extra room amenities that our regular rooms do not have and have been made available to you to assist in meeting your self-isolation requirements, at a heavily discounted rate. 

We will not be daily servicing rooms that have self-isolation guests in them – please understand this is to protect our staff as reasonably as possible. We will provide you daily with fresh toilet paper, hand towels and bath mats and bath towels every 2nd day if requested.

IMPORTANT: No use of the communal areas is permitted e.g. Kitchen, Communal Bathroom and TV Lounge Room.

If you have entered New Zealand after 1:00am on Monday 16th March and require isolation, it is ESSENTIAL to get in contact with us IMMEDIATELY, as it is only on a space-available basis. These room options have been made available so that they can provide accommodation for those in need and at the same time adhere to the New Zealand Government’s self-isolation parameters.

As well as taking New Zealand Government’s measures into consideration, AbsolootQT has also taken measures to assist and improve staff/guest safety:

  • We have introduced heightened cleaning and sanitisation protocols in the premises, and the frequency to which we disinfect all surfaces with disinfectant.
  • All of our team members are taking additional measures to ensure they are regularly washing their hands with soap and using the glove options provided to them on shift.
  • Any team member feeling unwell will be advised to stay home until further notice and if a team member shows any signs or symptoms of illness they will be required to go home effective immediately
  • We are working to keep all of our team members and customers up to date on the information they need to prevent exposure. Our senior management team is monitoring all avenues available to them to ensure the most up-to-date information is available to staff and guests.
  • We have created isolation rooms to allow existing reservations an option to meet self-isolation criteria.
  • We have created quarantine rooms to allow anyone presenting themselves to us with symptoms to be quarantined immediately until the appropriate authorities can be notified. We currently do not have any of these cases.
  • Above all, we are taking the New Zealand Government restrictions very seriously. If you should be self-isolating as per these restrictions, we ask that you do not utilise any communal facilities provided for guest use. Self-isolation rooms have been equipped with extra facilities to ensure this is not an issue.
  • ALL GUESTS checking into AbsolootQT from now on will be asked to produce their passport as well as their incoming flight details. The flight itinerary must show your name and dates and time of entry to New Zealand.
